Failure Resistant Extractor for M&P

Direct drop-in replacement extractor for Smith & Wesson M&P pistols, machined from heat-treated billet stainless steel with wire-EDM cut hook geometry. Designed to resolve inconsistent extraction in adverse conditions—carbon fouling, limp wristing, or weak ammunition—where factory extractors lose grip on the case rim. The custom hook profile increases engagement without requiring slide or extractor modification.

Requires: #2 flathead screwdriver or punch (to depress extractor spring), small pick or tweezers (to fish out factory extractor). Armorer’s block optional. No fitting. Remove backplate, depress extractor plunger, slide old extractor out, drop new one in, replace spring/plunger, reinstall backplate. 5-minute job.

FAQ

Will this fix ejection issues caused by a weak extractor spring?

No — the FRE only replaces the extractor hook geometry. If your ejection problems are from a worn or softened spring, replace the spring separately. The FRE improves grip on the case rim; it does not increase spring tension.

Can I use this in a competition gun with lightened slide?

Yes, but note that reduced slide mass may still cause ejection issues if the extractor clocking is off. The FRE’s deeper hook engagement helps retain the case longer, which can mitigate premature ejection in lightened slides. Test with your specific load.

Does this work with optics-cut slides?

Yes. Optics-cut slides do not affect extractor pocket geometry. The FRE is a direct replacement regardless of slide modifications.
