Universal Trigger Body – Red Type 2 Anodized Aluminum
This is the Apex Gunsmith Fit Universal Trigger in red, a solid billet aluminum trigger body designed to replace factory triggers across multiple platforms. Unlike drop-in units, this component requires fitting — extensive machining to the trigger shoe itself and/or the receiver to achieve the desired geometry. It solves the problem of limited aftermarket trigger options for less common models, giving you a single trigger body that can be shaped and tuned for Beretta, Colt, Glock, Sig, Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Ruger, or Taurus pistols.
Compatibility
- Beretta (select models — verify fit before machining)
- Colt (1911 pattern — requires shoe shaping)
- Glock (all standard frame sizes — requires trigger housing mods)
- Sig Sauer (P-series, 1911 pattern — model dependent)
- Smith & Wesson (M&P, 3rd Gen — receiver mods required)
- Springfield Armory (XD, 1911 pattern)
- Ruger (SR series, American — verify receiver clearance)
- Taurus (PT92, G2, G3 — extensive fitting)
Key Features
- Type 2 hard anodized red finish — aluminum body, tumbled before anodizing for smooth texture
- Universal blank design — no pre-cut trigger bar slot, no pre-drilled over-travel stop holes
- Reduces trigger pull weight, pre-travel, over-travel, and reset — entirely dependent on your machining skill
- Direct factory trigger replacement — requires removal of OEM trigger, then fitting this body to your gun’s specific geometry
- Includes: trigger body only — no bar, no springs, no pins
Install Difficulty: 5/5
Tools required: Dremel or rotary tool with cutoff wheels, sanding drums, files (needle and flat), calipers, trigger pull gauge (recommended), safety glasses. Expect to remove material from the trigger shoe’s sides, trigger bar slot, over-travel stop pad, and possibly the receiver’s trigger housing. Not for first-time builders. If you want drop-in, buy a pre-fit trigger.
FAQ
Will this fit my Glock 19 without modification?
No. This trigger requires machining to fit the trigger housing and trigger bar. The blank does not have a pre-cut trigger bar slot — you must cut that yourself. Expect 2-4 hours of fitting for a Glock 19.
Does this include the trigger bar or return spring?
No. This is the trigger shoe only. You reuse your factory trigger bar, trigger return spring, and trigger housing. For Glock platforms, you may need a new trigger bar if you want to modify the trigger pull weight beyond what the shoe allows.
Can I install this on a 1911?
Yes, but it requires significant fitting. The trigger bow length must be adjusted, the shoe width must be shaped to fit the frame, and the trigger track may need modification. This is not a drop-in 1911 trigger.
